Arrowtown
Queenstown to Arrowtown - the most scenic local route

Don't miss taking a Connectabus to Arrowtown, it's just a quick, and very scenic bus ride away, return when you are ready.
Arrowtown is a must see when visiting the Queenstown region. This charming old gold mining town retains much of its original gold rush character. The discovery of gold in the Arrow River in 1862 attracted miners by their thousands into the district from all over the world, a few found their fortunes, most were lucky to survive.
The main attractions of Arrowtown are the shops, cafes, museum and scenic walks. Of historical interest are the old buildings, museum, and Chinese Village walk. The town also has a vibrant contemporary aspect, with art galleries, great restaurants and bars and what is probably the greatest little movie theatre in New Zealand, Dorothy Browns.
You can easily spend a day just soaking up the atmosphere around here, a couple of stops away on the regular yellow Connectabus service is Amisfield Winery, where you can enjoy a world class lunch with some award winning wine, overlooking picturesque Lake Hayes. Another favorite stop, is Millbrook Resort, this internationally renowned golf resort has plenty to offer for golfers and day trippers alike, great cafes to suit all pockets, and incredible scenery.
